UNCC Shooting Injures 4, Leaves 2 Dead

A shooting at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on Tuesday has left four students injured and two dead.

Authorities identified the suspect as a 22-year-old history major who recently dropped out from UNCC, according to WRAL. The injured have been identified as Drew Pescaro, 19; Sean Dehart, 20; Rami Alramadhan, 20; and Emily Houpt, 23.

The victims, Ellis Parlier, 19, and Riley Howell, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene, WRAL reported.

Local authorities arrested the suspect, Trystan Terrell, and charged him with two counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm on educational property and discharging a firearm on educational property.

A candlelight vigil on campus is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday; it is open to students, alumni, faculty, staff and other supporters. UNC-Charlotte has also canceled all other campus activities as well as final exams.
